Here and Ready
Yesterday was a good but long day. We started up at 4:30 EST and, of course Erika was *so* excited about being on an airplane that she didn't sleep at all the first flight... she really was fun to watch.
We met up with Nana and Papa in the Charlotte airport and then made it to Guatemala City just after 1pm local time... historically Guatemala City is on Central time, however, since the US decided to change the date at which they move to daylight savings time and Guatemala didn't, there's actually another hour of difference making - at least for a few weeks - Guatemala time consistent with Mountain time in the US.
We got settled at the hotel - have a nice room just down the hall from the grandparents. Dad went for a run and Julie & Erika found the pool - just sort of relaxed and enjoyed the afternoon.
For dinner, we went to Kacao (http://travel.msn.com/Guides/EntityProfile.aspx?destinationid=13028&entityid=99843&entity=Restaurants&rrso=DESC&rrsb=DATE) - a local restaurant that serves very traditional Guatemalan food. Erika was so tired that she sat in Julie's lap and slept through the entire meal only waking up when we left (at which point, she was ready for food :) ).
This morning we are simply waiting... going to pick up breakfast and then wait for "the call" to go meet the foster mom and Matt...
